12/29-NEW YORK MAYOR BILL DeBLASIO CAMPAIGNED AGAINST THE POLICE. SHOULD HE BE SURPRISED WHEN THEY TURN THEIR BACKS ON HIM?

While the United States declares the war over in Afghanistan, the Taliban continues attacking and the casualties mount.  Meanwhile a war that remains unannounced between the police and young black males picks up steam.  Co-star of Fox News’ “Political Insiders” JOHN LeBoutillier visits with Sara and Barry this evening to hammer the headlines into exclamation points, or, at least, question marks.

12/23-SHERLOCK HOLMES WOULDN’T HAVE KNOWN THE ANSWER; “COMMUNISM!”, BUT HE WOULD QUITE WELL HAVE KNOWN THE QUESTION; “CUI BONO”? (LATIN FOR “WHO BENEFITS?”!)

It’s interesting how national and local media are exploring every aspect of the assassination of the two New York City police officers. Except the one that begs to be reported and pursued.  All friends, family and associates of the killer report that he never seemed to have any money.  He was known as a “couch crasher”, someone who continually barged in on friends’ homes to sleep on a couch.  However, after he committed the murders and then took his own life he seemed to have quite a bit of money.  That suggests he was financed, paid to do a hit on one or more New York policemen.  Who, now, would profit when two grand juries decline to indict two white policemen who shot down two black suspects?  Whose political dreams would come true if America’s racial pottery were smashed?  Sara and Barry know of no more important question at the moment.

12/22-CAN RACIAL WARFARE BRING AMERICA DOWN? WHY GIVE IT A CHANCE?

Is there a word for disappointments too big to occur?  F. Scott Fitzgerald, in his time an awesome and successful novelist, was a complete failure as a Hollywood script writer.  The highest paid player in baseball does nothing but pop out to the infield.  The best auto designers, inventors and marketers launch a long-awaited new car that loses fifty million dollars and bankrupts the company.  American race relations are worse right now than in any living American’s memory.  Would Martin Luther King have believed black marchers chanting, “What do we want?  “Dead Cops!”  “When do we want them?”  “Now!”  Sara and Barry set their sights on this national failure.

12/19-NINETY-NINE PERCENT OF ALL THREE-YEAR OLDS BELIEVE THE REASON THERE’S GLASS ON TV SETS IS TO KEEP THE PEOPLE FROM FALLING OUT. AND THAT’S SMARTER THAN WHAT THEIR PARENTS ARE HEARING AND SAYING ABOUT CUBA!

Barry won’t deny that he gave his most energetic AFFIRMATIVE AND HURRAH when it was suggested that the Association of Mature American Citizens spokesman JOSH BERNSTEIN appear as a guest on the show.  Barry was close and tight with the Fidel Castro movement.  He even helped Castro raise money to buy weapons.  Barry had hopes that Fidel would lead a tsunami of democracy, not just in Cuba, but all across the Americas.  It took Barry two years of Castro’s brutalitarian misrule to realize his error.  Barry wanted Josh on the show because he was sick of hearing from Americans and American media speak and behave as naïvely and stupidly about Cuba as he himself did in 1959.  “Josh Bernstein gets it,” said Barry. “ Maybe he can help others get it, too.”  Josh visits with Sara and Barry this evening.

12/18-TROUBLESOME! GERMANY TODAY IS NOT THE WARTIME GERMANY. NEITHER IS JAPAN. THE CUBAN GOVERNMENT OF TODAY, HOWEVER, HAS COMMITTED SOME OF THE MOST SHOCKING VIOLATIONS OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN HISTORY OR MEMORY.

The New York talk show Barry was producing before he got his own show had excellent relations with the Castro government of Cuba right after Castro’s takeover in 1959.  It was the “Tex and Jinx Show” and they repeatedly interviewed Castro’s chosen “President” of Cuba, Manuel Urrutia, and openly raised money for the Castro movement.  For Castro’s first ten days he was the most popular man, not just in Cuba, but in America., too. Then the firing squads began to work overtime in shifts and America’s mood changed.  Barry was sent to try to reach some of his top contacts within the Castro regime to stop the shooting after ten-minute trials, or no trials at all.  The one Barry reached and made the pitch to was Raul Castro.  Barry tells that story including Raul Castro’s remarkable reaction this evening.
