After
the collapse of the Soviet Union America pressed three small nations on
Russia’s border to join NATO; Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. They all
have huge minority Russian populations. Theoretically, if Russia invades
any one of them, America is committed to go to that nation’s defense.
Does anybody seriously think America would respond militarily in such a
case? And what if America did what America obviously WOULD do, namely,
nothing? Did somebody say “credibility”? Did anyone say, “We want
to be America’s ally?” Teacher-writer-scientist-inventor ADRIAN VANCE
helps walk us back and forth a few times across those question marks as he
visits with Sara and Barry this evening.
