Americans
used to be proud that their country cared deeply and desperately about every
single life, be it a soldier slapped by an American general, a baby girl who
fell into a well or a child who needs a rare blood-type transplant – other
countries seemed to care little or nothing about one life. America for
some reason seemed to agree with the ancient Jewish mandate that proclaims, “He
who saves but one life is as if he saved the entire world!” Sara and
Barry try to decide if the National Football League flap over Baltimore Ravens
running back Ray Rice is a healthy manifestation of that nobel spirituality, or
just more exploitative tabloid sleaze.
