When
good ole earthy Harry Truman was president a friend of the First Family
overheard the president asking mid-western farmers at a White House cocktail
party how much they had to pay for their manure these days. The friend, a
prim and proper woman, darted over to the First Lady and said, “Really,
Bess. He’s president of the United States. Can’t you teach him how
to say ‘fertilizer’?” “Don’t make trouble,” replied Bess Truman.
“It took me thirty-five years to get him up to ‘manure’!” Writer-talk
host LOWELL PONTE helps Barry figure out how long it took President Obama
to say “terrorist” in that same White House as he visits with Sara and Barry
this evening.
