Friends
of the late veteran David Rubitsky feel he’s been lifted up from his stretcher
and stabbed again. There was a push to secure a Medal of Honor for
Rubitsky about ten years ago and hope spiked when it was announced that the
president would award America’s highest decoration to blacks, Hispanics and
Jews who were by-passed because of military bigotry. Again, Rubitsky was
overlooked. During World War II David Rubitsky single-handedly fought off
a whole Japanese army in Papua, New Guinea, firing with multiple weapons into
the night. There were six hundred Japanese troops lost in the
assault. Former news director of Channel Five in New York TED KAVANAU
visits with Sara and Barry this evening to tell this virtually
impossible-to-believe chapter of military history.
