9/6 -- Barry's guest tonight is Dave Bego

DAVID A. BEGO, PRESIDENT, OWNER & CEO, EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT SERVICES, INC.is Barry's guest tonight.

Dave Bego founded Executive Management Services, Inc. (EMS), a commercial cleaning company based in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1989. The company started with two small accounts in Indianapolis and has grown to become a National company with approximately 5,000 employees servicing over 3,000 facilities in 36 states from coast to coast. Growth has resulted from internal sales and ten acquisitions to-date. EMS began providing security guard services through Delta Services of Indiana, a company acquired in 1997, and Sanitary Supplies and equipment through Barrett Supplies & Equipment acquired in 1994. These companies combine to form The EMS Group. www.emsinc.com

Although Dave began his career with a major Agro-business corporation, his dream was always to found and grow his own company. His ability to find, develop and motivate people has been key to his success. He also has been relentless in driving technology, professionalism, management skills, and sales and marketing techniques in a low-tech, low profile industry. He has also been relentless in building a company with an employee focused culture from top to bottom that provides above average industry compensation and benefits at all levels. EMS is also an environmental leader, and is one of 15 Commercial Cleaning Companies in the U.S. that has been GS-42 certified.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Tri-State University and a Master of Science Degree in Microbiology from Ball State University.

Dave was Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. He served on the Board of Directors for Warren Little League and YMCA. Dave is a member of Bose, McKinney & Evans Advisory Board. He is involved with various committees and a member of Hawthorns Golf and Country Club and is former President of Maple Creek Country Club. EMS makes contributions to hundreds of charities throughout each year in addition to hosting two annual golf outings which gross approximately $35,000 annually for local charities.

Dave and his wife Barbara have three children: Kelly, Mark and Brian. Barbara is the Secretary/ Treasurer of EMS and President of Barrett Supplies & Equipment; Kelly, a graduate of Xavier University and current Oversight Director at EMS; Mark, a graduate of Butler University and current Business Development Manager in the EMS Atlanta, Georgia office; and Brian, a graduate of Tri-State University, and current District Manager for EMS in Salt lake, Utah.

Dave’s interests include reading, golf, basketball, skiing, flying and writing. Dave recently wrote a book chronicling EMS’s fight against the SEIU’s ruthless corporate campaign to organize his employees. Information on the book can be found at the website: www.thedevilatmydpprstep.com
