7/5- "NO MISTAKE! THE JAPANESE WANT DATA ON THE AIR ATTACK ON TARANTO. NO, NOT CANADA, DUMMY! ITALY. WHY? WHO KNOWS WHAT THOSE WILY ORIENTALS ARE UP TO?"

Early in World War II a Nazi spy got an unusual request from Tokyo for all the information available on a victorious British attack on the Italian fleet in the Mediterranean Sea.  Japan was neutral and the spy didn't get the point, but the Japanese were good friends of the boss, Adolf Hitler.  The American Navy and the American nation found out why the Japanese were so eager for that information a year or so later half-way around the world, at Pearl Harbor!
